Supporting children of all ages impacted by the Ukraine Crisis

2 Missions engaging 160+ refugees
According to the UN Human Rights Council, "In the first half of 2022, more than 11.9 million people have had to leave their homes because of the war in Ukraine alone.” Moldova has become an important site for Ukrainian refugees and asylum-seekers escaping the conflict. More than 573,000 refugees have passed through Moldova, with nearly 100,000 settling there long-term.
In 2022, The Campfire Project partnered with IsraAid staff at multiple crisis centers in Moldova: the Sunflower Center in Chisinau, the Bolohan Shelter for Refugees north of Chisinau, and the Tudora Community Center, next to the Ukrainian border. Working with Ukrainian children of all ages, the programming focused on music, theater, and performance.
After the culmination of the programming in Moldova, the Campfire Project purchased a generator, as well as other clothing and food supplies, to support the shelter they worked with in the most dire need. These supplies sustained the residents for the next 7 months until they were relocated.
